| Thats a very good question. Some Officers know how to handle themselves and are mentally and physically capable of taking down a Heavy 7 footer. Then there are those that have to call for a back up because they are not capable. For years the RCMP in Canada had what I would call "Qualified Police Officers" They had a code and they had to have certain physical attributes. Then they became politically correct, just last year it took 5 armed RCMP officers armed with guns, clubs and Tasers to kill an unarmed man at Vancouver Airport. Can you believe it 5 Officers. The next day a RCMP Officer was giving an interview and she was about 5 ft 2 or so and weighed about 100 pounds. Can you imagine her trying to arrest a drunken 6 foot 200 pound guy without shooting him first. |

However, Had he resisted or tried to play super hero, he very well could have been hurt, or even worse killed, or caused harm or death upon you. Do not call him a coward, he is human too, just because he is a man does not mean he has to be devoid of fear, or the instinct to preserve his life, and do not believe for one second it was simply fear that guided his actions. Be certain it was his instinct for survival! I am sorry this is taking a toll on your marriage, but seriously work on it, he does not deserve to be called a coward, it is grossly unfair. And try and imagine this.... he resisted and he got shot in the head. And you are now angry at him over his grave for playing the hero when all the cards were stacked against him. Trust me, in this case you would have been saying how stupid his actions would have been. Lets not forget, they had the guns, they had the element of surprise from waking both of you up from your sleep (just try and remember how long it took for you to register and react to what was going on from your sleep, why should it be different for him), they already had the adrenaline pumping from their intended actions and he was still sluggish... do you really think the odds were in your favor? Count your blessings, and perhaps you should consider talking to someone before things get completely distorted for you. And you know what, I thank the lord everyday, that the intruder was scared off by various safety measures and that my husband was not awake to react, we were both waking and trying to figure out what was going on amidst the fog of our sleep. I thank the lord that no one in my family was awake to react, cause on an unexpected meeting like that I shudder to think of the dire possibilities for those I love. | Has anyone ever been the victim of a home invasion robbery? I'm a forty two year old fitness instructor for a well known health club, married just shy of ten years now. My husband works what he calls the graveyard shift, overnight. One month ago, i woke up in the middle of the night to 3 masked intruders standing over my bed with flashlights shining in my eyes. To make a long story short, i spent the next 4 hours hogtied and gagged in my bed, my husband finally coming home and discovering me all tied up. The intruder took everything of value, and they have taken my being able to sleep alone at night away from me too. I have asked my husband to switch over to day shifts, but he refuses, telling me that i need to get over it. | Has anybody ever been the victim of a home invasion robbery? Several months ago i my home was robbed by a group of people who have not yet been apprehended. My husband and guyren were away for the weekend on a camping trip, so i was home alone. That Saturday was routine & peaceful. I started the day doing some grocery shopping, went and got a pedicure, then went to Starbucks for a while to read and catch up on my lap-top. I returned home around 8:00PM, checked in with my husband on the phone, rented a movie, and went to bed around midnightt. Around 3AM i awoke to bright flashlights shining in my eyes to the point that because my eyes were dark adapted, i was temporarily blinded. I was told not to scream, that this was a robbery, and to do as i was told and i would not be hurt. As my vision began to return, i was able to make out 3 masked figures (i am certain one was a woman) standing over my bed. I was told to turn over and lay on my stomach, and my crossed wrists were bound tightly behind my back, while one of the other burglars bound my ankles together just as tightly. Finally, while still on my belly, bound hand and foot, they bent my knees up and hogtied me whith another length of rope so that my fingers could actually touch the soles of my feet. Most traumatically, to me, a wash cloth was shoved into my mouth and secured with athletic bandages wrapped around and around my head, followed by duct tape. I hated being gagged the most. My home was literally stripped of any and all valuables, as they even stopped to take cigarette breaks, (i could smell the smoke). And God did i need one myself because it seemed like they were there forever but before daybreak they came back upstairs to check on my bindings and tell me not to call the police. I could only nod yes and utter a muffled yes, and they were gone. The worst part for me was not the fear, but the embarrassment and shame. I am an aerobics instructor and have taken kick boxing classes. I keep myself in very trim, good condition, and am angry for allowing myself to be bound and gagged in my own bed without putting up a fight. Also, when they first started tying me up, i really thought i would be able to free myself as soon as they left me alone. Not so...i remained that way until 2:00PM the following day when my girlfriend came over and discovered me, now downstairs, on the floor in the kitchen, where i was desperately trying to get to a pair of scissors or a knife, to no avail. I also tried to get to my cell phone, which i did, but was unable to successfully dial 911 while bound. I am furious that this happened to me, and humiliated each time i have had to tell the story to family and friends.
